The post COVID19 economic recovery is gathering pace and regional areas such as Port Macquarie  will most likely benefit from a renewed push by seachange and tree changers.  The lifestyle opportunities presented by larger regional centres surrounded by towns and villages could result in a wave of migration away from metropolitan areas.

Benefits abound in regional areas for young aspirational families who want to balance lifestyle, well being, cost of living, employment and business opportunities in our growing region.  Many commentators such as renowned demographer Bernard Salt are already predicting a post COVID19 boom in regional centres right across Australia.

The Mid North Coast area with the major centre of Port Macquarie surrounded by vibrant towns and villages is well positioned to capture the imagination of young families planning to leave city life behind.  It has an idyllic climate, beaches, beautiful hinterland and a dynamic business community that rewards effort and enterprise.

Those professionals that have recently experienced work from home under COVID199 restrictions may be able to relocate and retain their corporate positions whilst enjoying better work life balance.  Tradespeople and many others who have been considering a downshift may do so to take advantage of a much lower cost of living, avoid traffic congestion and long commutes to work in metropolitan areas.

A growing realisation of the importance of agriculture, food production, primary industries and small regional manufacturing will highlight the opportunities that abound in regional areas.  Governments at all levels are also looking to build new infrastructure for regions such as road, rail and improve water security.

Relocation of many Government services to regions is again being seriously considered along with the creation of regional manufacturing hubs to ensure integrity of our own supply chains. A renewed emphasis on “buy local” and “made in Australia” has been a catalyst for industry and government to look at opportunities for growth and investment in regional areas.

In a new post COVID world the way we live, work, commute and interact as families is being challenged and re-examined thoroughly.  This may be a golden era for regional lifestyle choices, getting back to the basics of community living and a time for our area to shine.
