WELCOME BACK TO THE MOVIES! From July 3, Majestic Cinemas will open its doors again after a 3 month shutdown period due to COVID-19. The NSW State Government has officially eased restrictions, allowing cinemagoers to return to the big screen. Majestic Cinemas CEO Kieren Dell commented “It’s been a challenging time for all businesses and especially for our regional towns who have experienced drought, bush fires, heavy rain and then COVID in a relatively short period. We’re grateful to be in a position to reopen our doors to provide entertainment and an escape from the worries of the world for a few hours, and we can’t wait to see the faces of our customers, especially our Movie Club members, as life begins to return to normal”. On the advice and approval of health bodies and government, Majestic Cinemas will be implementing a number of changes to keep the movie going experience a safe one. Customers will be encouraged to book ahead of time via the Majestic Cinemas website to reduce crowding in foyer spaces. The maximum number of people per cinema has been limited in line with government policies, groups of customers will be separately seated within the cinemas, and everyone watching a film will be required to provide contact tracing information. “We’ve made a number of changes based on the advice and policy of government bodies and standards set by our industry bodies. It is important to us that our customers feel safe whilst they escape into the world of movies. Staggered session times as well as extra cleaning processes, sanitizer stations and social distancing protocols will be put in place when we reopen ”. “We also decided to extend the Movie Club memberships of our current members by 4 months as a thank you for their support and loyalty. We’ve appreciated every comment, message and email we’ve received across the last couple of months” said Mr Dell. The reopening of cinemas comes at a perfect time for families wanting to get the kids out of the house these school holidays, and with a long list of new and classic family films there will be something for everyone. Adults haven’t been left out either, with a range of genres returning to the big screen including a documentary about Australian racing car great Peter Brock. And for the first week until July 8, all tickets will be available for $9.90 as a special opening deal, and Movie Club Members will be looked after even more with all tickets just $7.50. It’s going to be a busy time for the cinema industry over the next few months, with major films such as Tenet, Mulan, Top Gun Maverick, No Time to Die, Wonder Woman 1984, Peter Rabbit 2, Black Widow and A Quiet Place 2 all rescheduled to be released from August and over the second half of the year. Tickets for sessions beginning July 3 will go on sale by Tuesday 30th June via the Majestic Cinemas website.
