From the President - April 2025

This is where joining a local business chamber, like Business Port Macquarie, can provide significant advantages.

As the leading business network in Port Macquarie, Business Port Macquarie connects, supports, and advocates for local businesses of all sizes. Membership offers a range of benefits that can help businesses grow, develop, and thrive. Here’s how:

1. Networking and Connections

One of the most valuable aspects of being part of a business chamber is the opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals and also form strategic alliances where businesses can help each other out. Through networking events, business breakfasts, and coffee connects, Business Port Macquarie creates an environment where members can form relationships, collaborate, and generate new opportunities. These connections can lead to partnerships, referrals, and increased visibility within the local business community.

2. Advocacy and Representation.

Micro, small and medium-sized businesses often struggle to have their voices heard in policy discussions. As a strong advocate for local business interests, Business Port Macquarie represents its members in dealings with government, councils, and key stakeholders. The chamber works to influence policies, address local economic issues, and create a business-friendly environment.

3. Business Growth and Development

Business owners and professionals need access to ongoing education and resources to stay competitive. Members of Business Port Macquarie benefit from workshops, seminars, and guest speaker events covering topics such as digital marketing, financial planning, economy, leadership, and industry trends. These professional development opportunities equip businesses with the skills needed to grow and adapt.

4. Increased Exposure and Credibility

Membership in a recognised business chamber enhances a company’s credibility. Consumers and other businesses are more likely to trust and engage with a business that is a part of a respected organisation like Business Port Macquarie. Additionally, members can take advantage of marketing and promotional opportunities, including featuring in chamber newsletters, social media shout-outs, and sponsorship opportunities.

5. Support and Resources

Whether a business is facing financial challenges, looking for guidance on regulations, HR or seeking grants and funding opportunities, Business Port Macquarie provides support and access to valuable resources. The chamber serves as a hub for business advice, offering expert insights and connecting members to services that can help them navigate their business journey.

6. A Collective Voice for Change

Beyond individual business success, being part of Business Port Macquarie contributes to the strength and prosperity of the entire region. By joining, businesses play a role in shaping the local economic landscape, driving initiatives that support community growth, and ensuring that Port Macquarie remains a vibrant place to do business.

Conclusion

Investing in a Business Port Macquarie membership is not just about joining a group—it’s about becoming part of a proactive business community that is dedicated to helping local businesses succeed. From networking and advocacy to professional development and marketing, the benefits are wide-reaching. Whether you’re a start-up, a growing enterprise, or an established business, membership in Business Port Macquarie can be a powerful tool for long-term success.

On the 19th March we hosted the Australian Institute of Company Directors. It was great to see so many first time event attendees. Economist Mark Thirwell gave an interesting presentation on the state of the International and National economy. Justine Romanis explained the benefits of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course and that they will be working with Business Port Macquarie to again bring the course to Port Macquarie saving people travelling to Sydney with added expense of accommodation. Planning is underway for the course to begin in September. We are currently taking Expressions of Interest from local business people who would like to be involved before we open the invite to Chambers members from other areas. Contact our office to register.
